Hello, my name is Juha. I used to play drums in a band when I was in high school, but I never really continued playing after that. Some years ago I thought it would be cool to start playing again. I was first considering e-drum set, but then I got to know about Cajon.

I got my first Cajon as a birthday gift when I turned 50. I was eager to learn the basic techniques and some simple grooves. It was rewarding and great fun, but at some point I felt that was not making any progress. Nevertheless, I countinued playing every now and then to learn some new grooves and to maintain the basic skills I had learned.

Earlier this year, almost five years after I got my first Cajon, I decided to start learning more. One of the reasons was a crazy idea of playing in high school class reunion in summer. I sold the idea to my old class mate who used to be guitarist and vocalist in our band back in time. That was the first time I got to know about Cajonmaster.com and subscribed to the YouTube channel. At that time I also bought my second Cajon (Meinl Artisan Edition) because it has some much more crisp snare than my first Cajon.

You probably want to know how was the “gig” in the class reunion? Considering that that we had not played together for 37 years and we had only one live practise session before the event, it was jus amazing how well it went. That gave me a huge boost to continue even further. Now after browsing through the entire Free Area it’s time to join the community and continue learning. Happy to be here. and thanks @Felipe for the inspiration.
