Not sure I answered your original question, “What type of strings?”. The strings can vary from model to model, but are made specifically for the cajon. Meinl’s website generally refers to the strings in stringed cajons (as opposed to snare cajons) as micro-coiled metal or micro-coiled steel strings. To the best of my knowledge, they are proprietary.
