Hello all and a question
Hello everyone, I’m Frank and I have just registered. I’ve been playing “modern acoustic” music and related styles for fifty years (I realize that many of you haven’t been doing *anything* for fifty years yet, but it sneaks up on you.) These days, I live in Santa Cruz California, which is at the northern end of America’s Riviera. At different time I have played instruments from every family except violin and piano. All this time I have thought that composition and improvisation are the ultimate musical expressions although as time has gone on, I more see the value in simply serving the groove too.
I should confess that I am not primarily a cajon player but I was clicking around YouTube one day and discovered Felipe’s “5 Levels” lesson in the free section. It is by far the best hand percussion instruction video I have ever seen, not just the best cajon video. Just about all the big elements a percussionist needs to internalize are there in order to feel comfortable being spontaneous and playing with others. Wow.
I’d like to reach out to several of you who have said that you want to have the skills to play your own music. Please feel free to say “No thanks” if the offer is not a good fit right now. I’m also happy to get messages from others with the same goals.
Kind regards,
Frank
