Hello from Turkey!
My name’s Holly. I was born in Japan, my passport country is the USA but I have lived in Turkey for 5 years now, after spending 15 years all over the world. My husband and I have 2 kids, a boy (9) and a girl (11). MY husband is super musical, plays 6 different instruments, none of them the drums though. My daughter’s learning the piano and my son is learning the drums. I have been playing the cajon of a whole 2 days! I have always been told I have great rhythm and I tend to drum on anything nearby to all kinds of beats that I hear but I’m not very musical. I’ve never played an instrument before but I do love listening and learning. I was encouraged to learn to play the cajon by several friends who believe I’m a natural. Time will tell I guess. Right now I just know I have a lot to learn! I don’t know what kind of cajon I have, whatever was at the store in Turkey, probably a locally made box with a tambourine on the inside or something. It’s not fancy. Anyway, it’ll help me learn and then when I get better, I can maybe get a REAL one! I’m so happy to have found Felipe’s lessons because he really does do a great job of explaining things and showing the right AND the wrong way to do it. As a visual learner, I really like that.
