As a beginner I don’t know the answer to this: do people ever play the cajon standing up? I ask because I sing and need to fill my lungs, so sitting tends to cramp them. Also, the other performers in my group are standing and I want to be seen while I perform. Is sitting on the box essential to produce a good resonant tone? Thank you.

    Hi Lisa,

By chance I have an answer to your question as I built myself a smaller cajon which I play standing up (strapped around my hips) as my full size cajon is too loud to be played in my apartment.

I used these commercially available canons as a model for my homemade cajonito:

I stole the idea of the “floating snare” from the luoson drum cajon and really love it.

Theres also a bigger one sold by Schlagwerk:

    Greetings, Konrad
